That's a good looking animal! I'm glad he didn't decide to come to and run off with your rifle!

Very nice moose. I like moose meat we had some when we where in Alaska teaching VBS.

I think that is a Dodge Dakota by the way (maybe I'm wrong there.) In which case, its a 1/4 ton pickup making the moose look even bigger.

Still, the thing is awfully big. Mmm... steak...

Moose meat is tasty, and there is a lot of it when you get one! I learned that the hard way when two of us packed the moose in the top picture out of the BWCA. I think it was the toughest physical event I've been through. We left camp at 9AM and finally called it quits at about midnight while packing across the final portage. We had to go back in the morning for the final 4 loads.

It was a great time though. If anyone goes into the BWCA for a moose I would be happy to go along as a packer.

That's a dandy Jackpine. Got my MN once-in-a-lifetime moose in 2003. Very close to the one you got for rack size. I got 433 lbs of the best tasting meat there is. I got very lucky with my moose. Got drawn the first time I applied and shot it with a 338 RUM just west of Gunflint lake. Called him in to 40 yards and I only had to pack the meat out about 100 yards. And the deboning and packing still took 2 of us about 5 hours. You REALLY had to work for yours and I'm sure your meat tasted better for it.

Walleyechamp, that is a bruiser! Is that a MN moose? I'm planning on an Ontario hunt for moose with a bow next. It may have to be a crossbow because of my disability but I'm still hoping to use my matthews switchback.

My hat's off to anyone having the opportunity to go moose hunting, and that includes any type of hunting. Keep the tradition alive!
